‘Banning motorbikes in Hanoi and Saigon is a breakthrough solution’

'Banning motorbikes in Hanoi and Saigon is a breakthrough solution' 7

I just saw photos of huge scrap motorcycle yards in China in the article Pictures of China’s Huge Economy.

Traveling to many places in the world, I see that there is no place where traffic is as disorderly and dangerous as in our country.

The thought suddenly appeared in my mind, why hasn’t Vietnam banned motorbikes in the center of Saigon and Hanoi?

I still remember that in July 2017, Hanoi City authorities announced that they would ban motorbikes from entering the center from 2030. Before that, many similar opinions and proposals in Saigon also appeared.

I’ve noticed that every time these proposals are mentioned, many people cry out in protest.

Someone even boldly said that if the bus was better, he would immediately sell his motorbike and switch to taking the bus.

I think that if the majority still maintains this blaming mindset, the situation will not get better.

Going back to China, if they were not bold and drastic in banning motorbikes, I think there would never be clean, beautiful train lines in the center but the streets would always be crowded and filled with car smoke.

In my opinion, big cities like Saigon and Hanoi should ban motorbikes from entering the center.

Let’s give up motorbikes now, so that in the future our children and grandchildren can ride the train in a civilized and safe way.
