Covid-19 in Bac Giang spreads quickly in the industrial park 3

Mr. Le Anh Duong, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Bac Giang province, commented above when working with Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son on the night of May 15.

As of this morning, Bac Giang recorded 314 Covid-19 cases, the locality with the most infections in the country during this epidemic.

According to Mr. Duong, the onset of this epidemic cluster was on the evening of May 14, taking rapid test samples and discovering 12 cases of infection in the same workshop No. 4. After one day of sampling all workers, the number of F0 cases increased very rapidly compared to the previous day.

`The patients are all workers, mainly in workshop number 4, with one shift working at workshop one of Hosiden Vietnam company,` Mr. Duong said.

Bac Giang officials suspect the source of the virus infection is due to transaction activities between employees of Hosiden Vietnam company and Korean-invested companies at the outbreak in Van Trung industrial park.

Bac Giang has established Field Hospital No. 3, preparing plans for field hospitals No. 4 and 5. These two hospitals have been fully prepared to be put into use when necessary.

Also according to Mr. Duong, the province will consider stopping the operations of companies that do not meet the conditions for epidemic prevention.

`The spirit is not to close industrial parks but to close some small industrial parks,` Mr. Duong said.

Mr. Dang Quang Tan, Director of Preventive Medicine Department of the Ministry of Health, also commented that the level of epidemic infection in Bac Giang is very fast, spreading between factories and companies, making the epidemic situation complicated.

Associate Professor Tran Nhu Duong, Deputy Director of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, advised localities not to only limit epidemic control to companies and industrial zones but `forget` to trace the community.

`Bac Giang needs to immediately activate community Covid-19 teams in residential areas to understand the situation and accurately trace. In industrial parks and factories, they must establish Covid safety teams,` Mr. Duong said.

Mr. Tran Nhu Duong, Deputy Director of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Khoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, suggested that in addition to taking screening samples in industrial parks, screening at medical examination and treatment facilities, family members, and medical staff must be done.

Mr. Duong Chi Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Health Environmental Management, said that in order to effectively zone and stamp out the epidemic in the industrial park, Bac Giang needs to immediately trace the company that supplies food to Hosiden company.

From practical experience in fighting the epidemic in Hai Duong, Mr. Nam believes that the quarantine plan must have a detailed and specific plan from the beginning.

`If you get food poisoning in the quarantine area, it’s considered the health system collapsing,` Mr. Nam said.

Another issue is ensuring safety in the quarantine area, avoiding cross-infection.

Sending people to quarantine quickly but must be safe, methodical, and rhythmic.

In addition to the new outbreak at Hosiden Vietnam company, the remaining two outbreaks are in Phuong Son commune, Luc Nam district (related to K Hospital) and SJ Tech company.

At SJ Tech company, Van Trung industrial park (related to the Central Tropical Diseases Hospital facility 2), 105 F0 were recorded.
