Covivac plans to test the injection in mid-March 6

Dr. Duong Huu Thai, Director of the Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals (IVAC), told VnExpress the above information on the morning of March 1.

Covivac is a Covid-19 vaccine researched and developed by IVAC.

This is the second vaccine tested on humans in Vietnam, after Nanocovax developed by Nanogen.

In phase one, IVAC coordinated with the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE) and Hanoi Medical University to implement.

Phase one is expected to involve more than 150 volunteers.

Professor Dr. Dang Duc Anh, Director of the NIHE Institute, said the goal of phase one clinical research is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of the vaccine.

In June-July, the research team will analyze and refine the results of phase one.

From September to November, the research team analyzed the results of phase two trials and recruited volunteers for phase 3 starting in November. There are currently no detailed plans for phase three clinical trials.

IVAC plans to conduct three phases of Covivac clinical trials from January 21 to the end of 2021, completed in early 2022 for use.

Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said on February 27 that research results show that the vaccine has quite good protective effect and has the potential to deal with Covid-19.
