The death of the main character Tanjiro’s family is also the opening scene for the entire series of tragedies in Kimetsu no Yaiba.
Explaining Muzan’s actions, many fans believe that he killed the Kamado family in order to wipe out the successors of the legendary swordsman Yoriichi and Sun Breath.
Assuming Muzan is really the one who attacked Kamado’s family as Tanjiro himself said, then the question arises:
Why did Muzan know that the Kamado family inherited Yoriichi’s legacy?
Tanjiro inherited the Hanafuda earrings and may have been the only child to pass on the Hinokami Kagura (Dance of the Fire God) because he was the eldest child and Mr. Tanjuro died early.
When Tanjiro met Muzan directly, Muzan was clearly surprised because he had not known him before and suddenly remembered the danger of Yoriichi only when he accidentally saw the earrings he was wearing.
Muzan identified the Sun Breath user through his earrings. When Muzan attacked Kamado’s house, Tanjiro – the only person in the house wearing earrings – was absent.
Suppose Muzan knew Kamado’s family from before and came to eliminate the disaster, but clearly without Tanjiro – the biggest threat, he had to hunt down and kill them right away.
Kibutsuji Muzan is very cowardly, does he dare to personally eliminate his mortal enemy?
Muzan successfully turned a Breath user into a demon, then felt relieved that he had captured a strong person.
The psychological ghost was so great that even though he encountered Tanjiro directly, Muzan still hid, entrusting the task of destroying the boy to two subordinates who were not too strong and did not touch him himself.
Perhaps what needs to be done is just to hide or contact his henchmen.
Tanjiro’s existence surprised even Supreme Leader Kokushibo
Muzan and Michikatsu (now Kokushibo) tried to root out the swordsmen who knew about Sun Breath after Yoriichi’s death.
It can be concluded that neither Muzan nor Kokushibou knew that Sun Breath had been passed down as a sacrificial dance by a family that was not a swordsman and was missing a move.
Therefore, we cannot rule out the possibility that Muzan killed Kamado’s family for no special reason at all.
Kamado’s family was not the only family that was killed but was almost not eaten, the body was still quite intact.
Nezuko was not completely dead after Muzan’s attack and was infected with enough blood to turn her into a demon.
Of course, speculation is still just speculation, let’s wait for author Gotouge to give us the answer!
