According to Spanish newspaper Marca, on December 30, Madrid’s Central Dispute Court suspended Lewandowski’s three-match suspension for further investigation.

In theory, the ban will still apply unless the court makes a final ruling in favor of Barca.

Espanyol was upset when the decision was made the day before the Catalan derby and filed a complaint.

Afterwards, Espanyol issued a statement complaining that many agencies had rejected Barca’s appeal, but it was suspended by Madrid’s Central Dispute Court.

On the same day, in the pre-match press conference, Xavi said that Barca had prepared a strategy to meet Espanyol without Lewandowksi on the field, and only learned the information after the training session ended.

`This is not the best moment, but we are happy that Lewandowski can play,` Xavi added.

In the 2-1 win over Osasuna on November 9, after being disqualified, Lewandowski put his hand on his nose, held his head high and left the field.

Afterwards, the owner of Camp Nou appealed to the Spanish Football Federation and the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), but both were rejected.
