Three quick methods to treat melasma 6

Melasma is a hyperpigmentation disorder caused by excessive melanin production, leading to the formation of brown or black patches or spots on the skin.

MSc. Vu Thi Thuy Trang, specialist in Dermatology – Skin Aesthetics, Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, said 90% of melasma cases occur in women, usually after 30 years old, during pregnancy and postpartum.

To effectively treat melasma, you need to find the cause of the disease.

In case of deep melasma or mixed melasma, treatment takes a long time.

Pico laser is the preferred method of treating melasma thanks to its selective pigment destruction mechanism.

Traditional lasers used for melasma treatment often operate at longer pulse durations, which can create excess heat in the skin, leading to the risk of skin damage and prolonged recovery times.

The meso injection technique uses a syringe with a tiny, hair-thin needle tip to deliver active ingredients that can inhibit pigment production into the skin layers.

The advantage of this procedure is that it is non-invasive and does not require any recovery time.

However, if the injection technique is not correct, the patient can experience pain, bruising, skin infection, and can even cause permanent granulomatous complications.

Skin peels also bring quick results in treating melasma, according to Dr. Trang.

Dr. Trang noted that in addition to persistently complying with the melasma treatment regimen, patients need to take care of their skin, cover carefully and use sunscreen every day, to avoid worse recurrence of melasma.

Dermatology – Skin Aesthetics Department, Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, receives many cases of complications of facial swelling, allergies, and skin burns due to self-treatment of melasma.
